Fiber Optic Repair Work

Customer reported that the fiber optic connection cable was not working. After inspecting the cable feed into the building, I discovered that the cable had been destroyed by some type of animal. It was critical that the repair needed to be done same day, if not same hour. The best course of action was to put in a temporary Cat 6 indoor/outdoor cable drop while we determined the best permanent fix. After about 2 hours, the customer was back up and running and totally satisfied with the work. Customer has decided the Cat 6 cable was fast enough for their needs and will not be repairing the fiber feed.

The photos show that with our laser tester we only had continuity on one strand so we knew the other five had some damage. So then we followed the cable all the way from the IT closet to where it entered the building and that is how we discovered the damage.
